What we collect
Depending on the features you use, Proven Waters may process:
- Optional account details such as a profile name, passkey public credential, preferences, saved water, catches, and trip plans.
- Community contributions such as general-area angler reports, photos, species observations, and moderation flags.
- Partner application and reporting details such as a contact name, organization, email, phone, schedule URL, and submitted reports.
- Push-notification subscription data and the coast, species, quiet hours, and alert types you select.
- Privacy-limited campaign events: a rotating anonymous device ID, anonymous session ID, page path, CTA or conversion type, UTM campaign fields, and referring hostname.
We do not ask community reporters to publish exact fishing coordinates. Private saved-water coordinates and personal logbook information are not used for campaign analytics.
How we use information
- Provide personalized conditions, counts, trips, alerts, profiles, reports, and crew tools.
- Protect the service, prevent abuse, moderate community content, and maintain source accountability.
- Measure which pages and campaigns help anglers so marketing and product decisions can improve.
- Respond to partner applications and operate the verified reporting network.
Campaign measurement
Proven Waters uses first-party, cookie-free campaign measurement. It does not store ad-network identifiers, fingerprint your device, or retain full referring URLs. A random session ID remains in the active browser tab so a reload is not counted as a new visit. A separate random device ID is stored locally for up to 180 days, hashed before it is stored with campaign events, and used only to measure anonymous return visits and product activation. Global Privacy Control and browser Do Not Track signals disable this measurement and prevent these identifiers from being created.
Storage, sharing, and retention
Structured records are stored with the site's Cloudflare infrastructure. Uploaded images are stored separately from their record metadata. Information may also pass through official marine, forecast, and booking sources when a feature requests their public data or you follow an external link.
We do not sell personal information. Service providers may process limited information to host, secure, and operate Proven Waters. Records are kept only as long as needed for the feature, safety, moderation, legal obligations, or aggregate product analysis.
Your choices
- You can use core public information without creating an account.
- You can change device preferences, disable alerts, or delete local saved data—including the anonymous analytics ID—through browser controls.
- You can request access, correction, or deletion of account or submitted information.
For a privacy request, use the Proven Waters contact form and begin the notes field with "Privacy request." Do not include sensitive information in the form.
Children and changes
Proven Waters is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as features or legal requirements change. Material revisions will be dated on this page.
